Parents wanting to keep an eye on their kids while they explore Robin Hood Country could invest in some toddler backpacks with reins.

According to VisitBritain, there is plenty to explore in and around Nottingham, much of it relating to the area's most famous son.

Interest in the man who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor has increased due to the release of a new Ridley Scott-directed Robin Hood film.

Spokesperson for the tourism authority Mark Di-Toro suggested visitors could check out Sherwood Forest or have a look around Nottingham Castle.

"[In the castle] there is an exhibition of the props from the film - so there's the costumes that Russell Crowe actually wore in the film and that the Sheriff wore and the King wore," he remarked.

Fans of Robin Hood could also pack up their toddler backpacks with reins and check out other locations used in the film, which includes Dovedale in Derbyshire, the Tower of London, Virginia Water in Surrey and the Hampton Estate in Farnham.
