With heavy rain forecast for the weekend in the UK, the weather may scupper any plans for trips to the park with tots in their latest outdoor baby clothes.

However, that doesn't mean kids have to avoid water entirely - and packing up the children's swimwear and heading to the pool could be great fun, especially if your little one has never been before.

Contributors to the Netmums website have discussed their tips and advice for taking babies to the local leisure centre, with one, Kate G, explaining she took her tot from the age of three months.

She explained that dips in the pool probably shouldn't last much longer than 15 minutes, as after this time little ones can get cold.

"As long as you keep their bodies under the water then they will stay warm enough and just make sure you have a nice big towel for after," she stated.

Another, going under the name Kate A, said investing in a baby wetsuit could be a good idea, as this kept her ten-week-old daughter warm.

Meanwhile, Rotherham-based correspondent Leanne R advised that taking one of baby's favourite bath toys could help her to relax in the new environment.ADNFCR-3005-ID-19580647-ADNFCR
