Parents may wish to make the most of the sunny weather this week, as kids raincoats are likely to be needed later this month.

According to the Met Office, the current warm spell is set to continue until Sunday (June 27th 2010) in many parts of the UK.

However, as this week turns to next, widespread showers and even some thunder in western and north-eastern areas have been forecast.

As a result, the mercury is also set to drop across much of the UK at the beginning of July.

Of course, the threat of rain is not likely to stop many families enjoying the great outdoors this summer.

Parents may decide to pack up their kids raincoats and enjoy some of the country's most famous attractions, such as Midlands theme park Alton Towers or Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

National parks such as the Lake District or the Peak District could also be worth a visit for adventure-loving families.
