A class of school pupils recently packed up their kids swimwear and headed for an adventure camp.

The Barry Comprehensive School youngsters headed to the Urdd residential camp at Llangrannog, according to the Barry and District News.

As the pupils were aged between 12 and 13, it's unlikely many needed swimming armbands at the centre, where they enjoyed swim sessions, archery, trampolining and horse riding.

Meanwhile, beach tents may have come in useful, as a group of the youngsters spent part of their trip exploring the local sandy spots.

When the kids weren't doing something energetic, they were enjoying Welsh language lessons and competing against other schools in science competitions.

Earlier this month, Glasgow parents Lesley and Hugh Mulholland told the city's Evening Times they love packing up their kids swimwear and taking their five, seven and 11-year-old children to the pool.

Mrs Mulholland said hitting the leisure centre is an activity a family can enjoy together.ADNFCR-3005-ID-19620517-ADNFCR
