In news which may interest those searching for children's winter clothing, David Cameron has pointed out babies need love rather than money. The Conservative Party leader made a speech at an event held by thinktank Demos, where he was joined by the founder of charity Kids Company Camila Batmanghelidjh and Labour MP Frank Field.
He said struggling families should be offered "active intervention", but that the quality of a child's upbringing is linked to the warmth of its parents rather than their financial status.
Mr Cameron said: "Of course there is a link between material poverty and poor life chances, but the full picture is that that link also runs through the style of parenting that children in poor households receive."
He also revealed the Sure Start scheme would be reformed under a Tory government to make its centres more like academy schools.
Meanwhile, schools minister Ed Balls recently announced plans for starting parenting lessons with kids as young as 14.
