Youngsters have been invited to bring their kids' wellies to Paignton Zoo for a special event later this month.

The Devon attraction is running a sleepover session for 15 little ones, who do not need to be members of the sanctuary.

Held on July 23rd 2010, the evening will give children the chance to experience the "dark side" of the zoo on a unique late night tour.

Before going to sleep in a room themed on the African savannah, kids will use bat detectors, listen out for wolves and roast marshmallows, according to educator Katy Barton.

The following morning, children are given the chance to watch animals tucking into their breakfast as they eat their own morning meal.

"If you've ever wondered what the animals do after we've all gone home, now's your chance. Don't forget your wellies in case a keeper needs you to lend a hand," Ms Barton remarked.

Earlier this month, parenting website MyChild.co.uk suggested that mums and dads could set their offspring the task of creating a nature garden.

Young people may need to wear kids' wellies while digging and planting.
