Parents who pack up the toddler backpacks with reins and head to the National Forest this summer are sure of a great time.

According to media relations officer at the Midlands attraction Carol Rowntree Jones, there are loads of "easy, gentle activities" to suit all members of the family.

Youngsters could enjoy exploring the forest on foot, while older children have the opportunity to take a look around on bikes.

Creative children could welcome the chance to take part in arts and crafts at the forest's Conkers centre.

"It's geared to families. Conkers will have all kinds of activities over the summer holidays for children whether its pond dipping, mini beast hunting or going out with the rangers," Ms Rowntree Jones remarked.

There is plenty more to do in the National Forest this summer, such as visiting the shire horses at the National Brewery Centre in Burton-on-Trent.

Open-top bus tours and trips to the Claymills Victoria Pumping Station could also be on the agenda for parents taking their kids out with toddler backpacks with reins.
