Taking kids to a festival can be a fun summer day out - but the changeable British weather means boys and girls wellies are always essential.

And according to the News Shopper, the key to looking cool when wearing girls wellies is to accessorise.

For females this could include wearing flower hair clips and bangles, while boys can look seriously stylish in a scarf or hat.

Families planning a fun day out at a festival have numerous options this summer - starting with Glastonbury, which kicks off today (June 24th 2010).

July sees the T in the Park festival take place near Kinross in Scotland, while August brings the V Festival at sites in Essex and Staffordshire.

The Reading and Leeds Festivals are set to round off the summer on the August bank holiday weekend with performances from Arcade Fire and Guns 'N Roses.

Along with boys and girls wellies, those planning to take little ones to a music event should not forget to bring sun protection for toddlers.
