Pregnant mothers have been offered advice on making sure a house move goes smoothly - including ensuring all child rollalong suitcases are packed well in advance of the big day.

Removals firm Helpiammoving.com underlined how transferring to a new house can be a stressful time - especially if a family is expecting a new baby.

Although few people want to be undertaking this task during their pregnancy, sometimes it is unavoidable.

However, thoughtful planning and gradually packing is the key to success, the firm claimed.

For kids, this could include packing up items they are not likely to wear - such as winter clothing if the move is taking place in the summer - in their child rollalong suitcases.

Pregnant women should register with their new doctor, midwife and dentist as soon as they can and do a "stork walk" of their local hospital if it is different to their previous one.

"Remember to drink plenty of fluids on moving day - after all you have precious cargo on board as well," Helpiammoving.com stated.

Expectant mothers should also keep the advice of the NHS in mind - it recommends women do not lift any heavy weights after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
