A toddler backpack with reins could prove really useful during the daily walk to nursery, giving a youngster controlled freedom.

Getting to lessons on time is proving difficult for a reader of the Sentinel, who wrote in to the newspaper to ask for advice on how to speed her two-year-old up.

Janet Dowling, who works as a manager at a Sure Start Children's Centre, suggested giving the little one more independence could make him easier to manager.

This could include letting the child walk to nursery using a toddler backpack with reins rather than relying on a pushchair.

Ms Dowling underlined how organisation is the key to a successful school run, explaining that preparing lunches and laying out clothes the night before can pay dividends.

"It might be helpful to put a white board up to make a note of what everyone needs each day of the week," she remarked.

A toddler backpack with reins could also be useful during leisure time, allowing a child to pack their favourite things for an enjoyable walk around the park or along the beach.
