Baby back carrier users are more likely to head to Blackpool when going on a staycation, if new research is anything to go by.

According to consumer charity Which?, the Lancashire town is the UK's all-time favourite seaside resort, especially among families.

Some 4,000 people responded to the campaign body's poll, which highlighted some of Blackpool's biggest attractions, such as its illuminations and special atmosphere.

Spokesperson Rebecca Leach said the organisation's research suggested that even more people are set to enjoy a holiday in a seaside resort in 2010 compared to 2009.

Many families are unable to afford foreign holidays and prefer British breaks because they are easier to get to, she said.

Ms Leach added: "The nightlamp in Blackpool proved really popular and people felt that the resort was family friendly."

Her remarks follow a recent poll by holiday company Lets Stay UK, which revealed that there was a 20 per cent increase in British seaside holidays in 2009.

It claimed that short break providers have dramatically improved accommodation standards.
