Whether mums and dads are learning about all in one baby suits or the use of swimming buoyancy aids, parenting is a "big learning curve".

This is according to Tana Ramsay, who has been named the 2010 Celebrity Mum of the Year by Tesco Magazine.

Chef Gordon Ramsay's wife, who is mother to four kids aged between eight and 11, beat off the likes of newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky and EastEnders star Patsy Palmer to scoop the prize.

Accepting the gong, Tana said parents need to adapt to the needs of their kids as they move into their teenage years and talk to them as often as they can.

"As they get older that's the thing I'm learning all the time is just listening. Some problems you might not think are a big deal are massive for them," she said.

The prize was handed out at a glittering ceremony in London attended by prime minister Gordon Brown's wife Sarah.

Gongs were also doled out to non-celebrities, such as Maria Angel, who scooped Community Mum of the Year.
