Dads who take their kids out in baby back carriers for some one-on-one time may have a happier family life a result.

According to parenting social networking site DadTalk.co.uk, "dad dates" are great way for fathers to bond with their offspring.

With younger children this could include going for a walk in the park with baby back carriers, but older kids may appreciate a kick-about, a trip to the cinema or a tasty meal.

Research carried out by the University of York and published by the Children's Society earlier this month revealed that kids are more likely to confide in their mother than their father.

For this reason, dads should foster an environment where kids feel happy chatting to them - and this could begin when children are young enough to still be in baby back carriers.

Project manager at DadTalk.co.uk Paul Kellett said the key to achieving family harmony could be finding a suitable work-life balance.

"There are lots of free and enjoyable ways to spend time together and often getting back to basics can be a real eye-opener," he remarked.

Another poll carried out by Savoo.co.uk earlier this month found 70 per cent of fathers would like to spend more time with their kids.
