A group of schoolgirls may not have needed baby back carriers to ferry their virtual tots around - but many aspects of looking after the electronic dummies was as real as possible.

The Wolverley CE Secondary School year ten pupils found out about how demanding caring for a baby can be, according to the Kidderminster Shuttle.

Feeding, changing and winding were all part of the routine for the girls, who looked after the virtual tots for a weekend.

Just like real babies, the devices cry and giggle depending on the attentiveness of their carer.

Teacher Kerry Poole told the news provider: "It showed the girls to be mature young ladies who have identified what they would like to achieve and are striving for it."

Earlier this year, the then-Labour government proposed that all 14-year-olds in British schools should receive parenting lessons by 2011 - sessions where youngsters could learn all about using essentials such as travel cots, potties and baby back carriers.
